2007 Annual Conference
and Theatre Festival:
"Mountain Masquerade"
The 2007 convention held at Musselman High
school had something for everyone, and what a great
convention it was! A big thanks to Lori and Mike Stiles and
his staff. Here are some of the highlights:
- Beth Harvey and Lori Leigh visited
from the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) office
to get to know us better and take in the local sights.
- The Scarecrow, an original
script written by S. Glenn Brown and directed by Linda
L. Brown, presented by Greenbrier East High School took
top honors in the Secondary School Competition. The
Scarecrow will represent our state at SETC's
Secondary School competition.
- The Charleston Stage Company's
production of The Exonerated took top Community
Theatre honors, as well as a nod from the judges for
their ensemble work, and The Complete Works of
William Shakespeare (Abridged) as presented by the
Apollo Theatre took Distinguished Play honors.
The Exonerated went on to win the Southeastern
Theatre Conference Community Theatre Festival in March,
2008, and the director and cast garnered several
individual awards including Best Director, Excellence in
Acting, and Outstanding Ensemble.
- Elections were held for Board of
Directors for 2007-08. See the results
here
Join us next year at the 2008 Annual Conference,
October 31-November 1, 2008. The venue will be
Glenville State College, and our conference host will be
